BHI Coatings performs worn shaft, journal and keyway rebuilding across Alvin and the Texas Gulf Coast. Hammered keyways, scored journals, and worn shaft seats leave the press-fit sloppy and the journal undersize for its sleeve or bearing. The shaft runs out of tolerance, and whatever it drives wears in turn. Building it back up with an arc is the obvious fix and the wrong one, because heat distortion on a slender rotor ruins the runout.
How BHI Coatings does worn shaft, journal and keyway rebuilding
BHI Coatings rebuilds journals, keyways, and shaft seats cold with metal composites such as Belzona 1111 and 1131, then machines them back to the specified diameter. The crew preps the worn surface, applies the composite, and turns it to size in our Alvin shop or on site. No arc-weld heat enters the rotor, so there is nothing to chase out afterward.
Typically applied with Belzona 1111, Belzona 1131, matched to the service conditions.
The shaft returns to its specified diameter with the press-fit and the keyway restored. No welding heat went into the rotor, so it stays straight and runs true without a re-machine for distortion.
