Erosion & Abrasion

Wear plate and bar protection

Wear plates and bars in chutes, crushers, and handling equipment lose thickness to impact and sliding abrasion, then sit loose against an irregular backing.

The problem

The need for wear plate and bar protection

BHI Coatings performs wear plate and bar protection across Alvin and the Texas Gulf Coast. Impact and sliding abrasion take thickness off wear plates and bars in chutes, crushers, and handling equipment every shift they run. Thinner plate distorts and sits loose against an irregular backing, so the load stops transferring evenly. That uneven bearing speeds the failure up and shortens the interval between expensive changeouts.

Our method

How BHI Coatings does wear plate and bar protection

We rebuild the worn plate face and bed the plate to full bearing against its backing, using cold-cure metal-repair and ceramic compounds in the field or in our shop. Filling the gap behind the plate spreads the load so no single point takes the impact. No hot work, so the repair runs inside the maintenance window without a welding permit.

The result

Plates and bars carry load evenly across solid backing and run longer between changeouts. Less downtime, less replacement spend.
