The need for expansion and building joint sealing

BHI Coatings performs expansion and building joint sealing across Alvin and the Texas Gulf Coast. Old sealant lets go at the substrate edge and pulls away from the concrete. Floor, wall, and walkway joints open, and water and debris go straight into the structure. From there the water corrodes rebar and undercuts the slab on both sides of the joint.

Our method

How BHI Coatings does expansion and building joint sealing

Our crew cuts out the old sealant, preps the joint faces, then reseals expansion and building joints with a flexible compound that bonds to concrete, stone, and brick. Belzona 2211 and 4521 support the flexible joint and substrate-repair work. The material cures cold and stays elastic, so it moves with the joint instead of cracking across it.

Typically applied with Belzona 2211, Belzona 4521, matched to the service conditions.

The result

The joint moves with the structure and keeps water out, and it reopens to foot or wheel traffic the same shift.
