The need for handrail anchor and fixture re-bonding
BHI Coatings performs handrail anchor and fixture re-bonding across Alvin and the Texas Gulf Coast. Water collects in the socket at the base of a handrail post, and that is where the steel rusts out, leaving the rail loose against worker weight. A wobbling rail on a stair, walkway, or elevated platform is a fall hazard and an OSHA finding. Replacing the post usually drags hot work in next to process equipment, plus a permit that holds the whole job up.
How BHI Coatings does handrail anchor and fixture re-bonding
We clean out the corroded socket and post foot, re-bond the fixture with a cold-cure structural adhesive, then re-chock the foot to alignment in a re-set socket. A Belzona 2311 elastomer or 7111 bonding system carries the load and seals out the water that caused the failure. No hot-work permit, and no torch anywhere near live process lines.
Typically applied with Belzona 2311, Belzona 7111, matched to the service conditions.
The rail takes full load again with no post replacement and no welding. The platform clears its safety inspection, and our crew is off it the same day.
