Corrosion Protection

HVAC duct and surface corrosion protection

Condensation pools at duct low points and joints, corroding HVAC ductwork from the inside out before the original coating lasts a building life cycle.

The problem

The need for HVAC duct and surface corrosion protection

BHI Coatings performs HVAC duct and surface corrosion protection across Alvin and the Texas Gulf Coast. Condensation pools at duct low points, seams, and joints, corroding HVAC ductwork from the inside out. None of it is visible until a wall perforates or a section has to come out, usually well short of the building's design life. Pulling and re-fabricating duct sections disrupts the system and every space it serves.

Our method

How BHI Coatings does HVAC duct and surface corrosion protection

We prepare the duct surface, metallic and masonry alike, then apply a room-temperature coating that resists condensate, chemical, and bacterial attack. A Belzona 5111 or 5811 system cures cold, so the work fits inside a scheduled HVAC maintenance window with no flame near the building. Existing ducting gets recoated in place instead of cut out.

Typically applied with Belzona 5111, Belzona 5811, matched to the service conditions.

The result

The ductwork stays in service behind a barrier that holds back the condensation cycle. No duct-replacement project, and the existing system gets more life out of it.
