Gasket, seal, and shim casting

Irregular flange faces and legacy machinery need gaskets, seals, and shims at thicknesses no catalog part matches.

The problem

The need for gasket, seal, and shim casting

BHI Coatings performs gasket, seal, and shim casting across Alvin and the Texas Gulf Coast. Irregular flange faces, pitted seats, and legacy machinery ask for gaskets, seals, and shims at thicknesses no catalog part matches. Sourcing a custom part costs lead time the outage cannot absorb. And a poor-fitting gasket on an uneven face leaks, weeps, and has the equipment back apart on the next cycle.

Our method

How BHI Coatings does gasket, seal, and shim casting

We cast gaskets, seals, and shims in place with a fluid elastomer that cures to the actual mating surface. The crew preps and releases the faces, then applies a Belzona 2000-series elastomer that takes the exact shape of the gap, so no mold, machined part, or specialty tooling is required. For higher-load shim work the supporting Belzona 2211 elastomer builds a load-bearing fit. All of it cures cold.

Typically applied with Belzona 2131, Belzona 2211, matched to the service conditions.

The result

You get a gasket, seal, or shim formed to the real geometry of the joint, with no catalog lead time attached to it. Worn and out-of-flat faces seal on the first reassembly.
