Engineered composite pipe wrap repair

Through-wall corrosion, external pitting, and mechanical damage thin pressurized pipes and vessels before a replacement turnaround is scheduled.

The problem

The need for engineered composite pipe wrap repair

BHI Coatings performs engineered composite pipe wrap repair across Alvin and the Texas Gulf Coast. Pressurized pipe and vessel walls thin from through-wall corrosion, external pitting, and mechanical damage long before a replacement turnaround shows up on the schedule. Texas Gulf Coast refiners and petrochemical producers cannot always take a line down on the defect's timeline, so the wall keeps losing metal under pressure. Given enough time, that defect becomes a release, a lost-product event, or a forced unplanned shutdown.

Our method

How BHI Coatings does engineered composite pipe wrap repair

BHI Coatings applies an engineered resin and fiber composite wrap, often Belzona SuperWrap II, while the line stays online and under pressure. The repair is designed and documented to ISO 24817 and ASME PCC-2, so the wrap is an accountable engineered fix rather than a field patch. Our factory-trained and factory-certified Belzona applicators prepare the substrate, build the laminate to the calculated layer count, and cure it cold with no welding.

Typically applied with Belzona SuperWrap II, Belzona 1212, matched to the service conditions.

The result

The pipe or vessel gets its design pressure rating back and stays in service through to the next planned outage. No emergency shutdown, and no bill for a fabricated replacement section.
