The need for pipe and tank leak sealing
BHI Coatings performs pipe and tank leak sealing across Alvin and the Texas Gulf Coast. By the time a pinhole, a through-wall defect, or a corrosion pit shows itself, the steel around it is usually wet or oil-contaminated. Conventional adhesives will not bond to a damp, dirty surface, so the quick patch lets go and the leak comes back. Welding on a thinned, contaminated wall risks blowing through, and it pulls a hot-work permit on a line that may still be carrying product.
How BHI Coatings does pipe and tank leak sealing
We rebuild the corroded wall and seal the defects with cold-cure compounds formulated to bond to damp and contaminated steel. The crew preps the area as far as conditions allow, fills the pit or pinhole, then builds wall thickness back toward the original profile. It cures at ambient temperature, with no welding.
The line or tank goes back into service with no hot work, even where the surface never dried out. The wall carries its load again and the leak is closed.
