Live leak sealing
Active leaks at pipes, headers, and vessels waste product and corrode nearby steel before a shutdown can be scheduled.
The need for live leak sealing
BHI Coatings performs live leak sealing across Alvin and the Texas Gulf Coast. An active leak at a pipe, header, or vessel wastes product and corrodes the steel around it every hour it runs. For Texas Gulf Coast refiners and petrochemical producers, an unplanned shutdown to chase one leak can cost more than the leak does. And the pressure driving the leak is the same pressure that makes a hot-work repair unsafe to attempt.
How BHI Coatings does live leak sealing
We seal the live leak cold with the line still pressurized, then overwrap the area to turn that stop into a permanent composite repair. Supporting Belzona systems such as Belzona 1212 and SuperWrap II let the crew bond to the wet, weeping surface and build a structural overwrap on top. No hot work, no product evacuation, no break in production. Our 24-hour on-call crew responds when the leak will not wait for a turnaround.
Typically applied with Belzona 1212, Belzona SuperWrap II, matched to the service conditions.
Production keeps running while the leak gets sealed and reinforced in one visit. No emergency shutdown, and none of the product losses that come with one.

Bends, tees, and elbows wear fastest because flow turbulence concentrates erosion and corrosion at the change of direction.
