Tank & Containment Lining

Bund wall rebuild and lining

Bund walls spall from the inside out, exposing rebar and opening cold-joint cracks until the wall no longer holds its rated volume.

The problem

The need for bund wall rebuild and lining

BHI Coatings performs bund wall rebuild and lining across Alvin and the Texas Gulf Coast. A bund wall fails from the inside out, once moisture and chemical attack have reached the rebar. The steel rusts, expands, pries the concrete face apart, and opens cold-joint cracks on its way through. A wall that has lost its rated volume puts the whole facility out of compliance and one spill away from an uncontained release.

Our method

How BHI Coatings does bund wall rebuild and lining

Our crew cuts back the failed concrete, treats exposed rebar, and rebuilds the spalled face with a cold-cure repair mortar from the Belzona 4100 series. A barrier coating caps the rebuilt surface, and a chemical-resistant overlay goes on top of that where the stored product demands it. The wall is never demolished and no replacement pour is needed.

Typically applied with Belzona 4131, Belzona 4141, Belzona 4311, matched to the service conditions.

The result

The bund holds its rated containment volume again and passes inspection. The wall was restored where it stood, not rebuilt from scratch.
