Chemical storage tank linings
Stored chemicals attack tank floors and the floor-to-shell weld, thinning steel where stagnant product settles and the old lining has worn through.
The need for chemical storage tank linings
BHI Coatings performs chemical storage tank linings across Alvin and the Texas Gulf Coast. Stored chemicals settle and stagnate against the tank floor, and wherever the old lining has worn through, the steel starts thinning. The floor-to-shell weld goes first, because that seam concentrates stress and product attack along one line. A leak there costs inventory, an environmental report, and an unplanned shutdown.
How BHI Coatings does chemical storage tank linings
We blast the interior to the required profile, then lay a cold-cure lining down as one continuous film across floor, weld, and shell. The Belzona 4341 system bonds to the prepared steel without hot work, so there are no welds to recoat and no heat soak on the vessel. It all cures at ambient temperature inside the climate-controlled conditions our crew maintains on site.
Typically applied with Belzona 4341, Belzona 1391T, matched to the service conditions.
The tank goes back into service under a joint-free barrier, with the corroded areas covered and the floor weld protected as part of the same film.
